What experience do I need to become a project manager?

Entry-level project manager positions typically require work experience as a team member or team leader in some capacity. Training is also looked upon favourably, from short courses to university degrees.

Each job will have its own particular set of requirements and preferences. Priority Management's project management courses are designed to give you practical skills and confidence in your abilities, so you'll be ready to jump into the project manager role that's right for you.

Are there prerequisites for project management courses?

Our short courses assume that students understand the basics of using computers, but otherwise, any professional with any level of experience can successfully complete the training.

Some courses in particular may expect familiarity with certain programs within the Microsoft Suite; we recommend checking the individual course pages for more information and reaching out to us directly with any further questions. Our nationally recognised accredited courses also have different expectations for student competency.

Which project management course is right for me?

Priority Management offers a number of project management courses to suit an array of purposes and levels of experience. Our Project Planning Courses, for example, covers proven strategies and techniques for effective planning and leadership. Microsoft Project Fundamentals focuses on a specific program and how to use it to perform project management tasks.

Do I need to visit a campus or office to study?

No. Our short courses are available in face-to-face, instructor-led workshops or virtual sessions. Our in-person workshops, if organised by an employer or team leader, are typically delivered in the workplace or in an agreed-upon secondary location.

We do not have a campus or dedicated physical space for education, but we do have options to deliver the ideal format for you and your schedule.

What does a project manager do?

Broadly speaking, project managers are in charge of planning, overseeing, and delivering a final product or project to their clients or stakeholders. They assign tasks to team members, manage resources and budgets, perform risk assessments, and analyse the project progress for more insight into their team and their capabilities.

Project managers require strong leadership and organisation skills, as they are the key figure in projects being completed on time and with minimal setbacks.
